Email Account at CMS
Notes and Tips
From the CMS User Support Center:After the switchover, all users will need a HU account to read and send emails. The HU account should be set up in the email client (e.g., Thunderbird) with the associated official address. The latter can be viewed via Account Info [1]. Emails to ...@informatik.hu-berlin.de addresses will be delivered to the associated HU account after the switchover.
If you would like to change your official address, please contact the CMS User Support Center [2]. Due to the different email address requirements between Computer Science and the CMS/HU in general, not all previous @informatik addresses can be entered as official addresses (although they will continue to function for receiving emails). The rules for creating email addresses can be found on the CMS website [3]. S/MIME certificates can only be requested/created for the official address of an account.
Instructions for setting up the HU account in various email clients are available on the CMS website [4]. Under no circumstances should the existing IT account be "reconfigured" into the HU account! Instead, the HU account should be set up separately. Once all emails from the IT account have been migrated to the HU account, you can delete your IT account from your email client. Further details on the migration can be found on the RBG website [5].
The IT account will no longer be available for email after March 31st.
